Life In Japan: School Lunch

Here in Tambasasayama, “school lunch” has a special meaning. This weekend, in fact, Masumi-san and I had a “school lunch”. It was at a restaurant set up in one of the schools which is no longer functioning as an educational institution. The population here is shrinking. Fewer and fewer kids means closing schools and repurposing them. Continue reading

Success Story! Black Man Beats The Odds

Here is an inspiring success story! Our first black president beat the odds and the scourge of systemic racism and got his just reward. Just look at these photos of the opulent $5.3 million mansion President Obama will move his family into after Donald Trump takes the oath of office. Granted, not every African-American experienced such dramatic improvement in their fortunes over the past eight years. But like they always say … you can’t win them all. Continue reading
